Senior SDET — Enablement Platform

About Swap

Swap is the infrastructure behind modern agentic commerce. The only AI-native platform connecting backend operations with a forward-thinking storefront experience.

Built for brands that want to sell anything - anywhere, Swap centralises global operations, powers intelligent workflows, and unlocks margin-protecting decisions with real-time data and capability. Our products span cross-border, tax, returns, demand planning, and our next-generation agentic storefront, giving merchants full transparency and the ability to act with confidence.

At Swap, we’re building a culture that values clarity, creativity, and shared ownership as we redefine how global commerce works.

About the role

We are looking for a Senior SDET to join our Enablement Group. Enablement builds the shared foundations that power all teams: internal developer tooling and core services, reusable UI platform components, CI/CD and operational enablement, access/security integrations, public APIs and platform adapters, and Apollo (Swap’s ingestion + event/webhook intake and distribution layer).

This role owns quality standards for internal systems and drives adoption and compliance across teams. You will define functional and non-functional quality requirements, translate them into measurable standards, and ensure internal services meet them through reviews, gates, validation, and operational signals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead definition of quality standards for internal systems (functional and non-functional): reliability, performance, scalability, security, availability, observability, data correctness, and operability.

  • Partner with engineering teams to turn standards into service-level requirements and clear acceptance criteria for platform capabilities and internal services.

  • Own the compliance loop: define how compliance is measured, introduce evidence (tests, checks, dashboards), and drive remediation when gaps are found.

  • Run structured quality reviews for internal services: design reviews, readiness reviews, release criteria, and post-incident follow-ups that update standards and checks.

  • Define and maintain quality gates in CI/CD that enforce standards without slowing teams down (contract checks, smoke/regression, security checks where relevant).

  • Establish API quality standards for public APIs and platform adapters: contracts, backward compatibility, versioning, integration requirements.

  • Lead cross-team alignment: document standards, drive adoption, coach teams, and create lightweight processes that teams follow .

Requirements

  • 5+ years in quality engineering / QA / SDET / reliability-oriented roles in a distributed systems environment.

  • Strong ability to define engineering standards and get teams to adopt them through influence and clear workflows.

  • Solid understanding of non-functional requirements: reliability, performance, scalability, security, observability, and operational readiness.

  • Strong technical background: able to review designs, understand system behavior and failure modes, and speak fluently with engineers.

  • Experience with CI/CD and quality gates; ability to translate standards into automated checks and measurable signals.

  • Experience testing and validating APIs (contract testing, integration testing, backward compatibility).

  • Strong ownership and organisation: can coordinate across multiple teams and drive compliance over time.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary.

  • Stock options in a high-growth startup.

  • Competitive PTO with public holidays additional.

  • Private Health.

  • Pension.

  • Wellness benefits.

  • Breakfast Mondays.

Diversity & Equal Opportunities

We embrace diversity and equality in a serious way. We are committed to building a team with a variety of backgrounds, skills, and views. The more inclusive we are, the better our work will be. Creating a culture of equality isn't just the right thing to do; it's also the smart thing.
